I set the alarm on my computer and my computer is supposed to know where it is. Like, when I change time zones. So, I set the alarm for 6:30 (breakfast was at 7) and I went to sleep. My roommate and I wake up at 7:30 and missed breakfast because my computer didn't update times with the microsoft server. :( We did make it to the bus though. We visited the "Big 3" today. The Korean War memorial, The Vietnam War memorial(this letter was left by a soldiers friend at the bottom of his name), and the Lincoln memorial. We could also see the Washington Monument. After, we went and ate at this really awesome pizza place. (For those back home it was like Loopy's) The weird thing was they supplied us a map that listed like 15 really fancy resturaunts and the map was outdated. Which meant part of the resturaunts didn't even exist anymore. So, 50-100 starving teenagers converged on this pizza place that serves pizza slices larger than the size of your face; Yes, we measured. And the size of the room is like 7 feet wide by 15 feet long and we're all suffocating because we're wearing button-ups, blazers, ties, etc... and the room was like 89-92 degrees because of the ovens. It was called Goody's and its in Dupont Circle.
Well, we go to get back on the bus and there are two girls in our seats. So, we're like you took our seats and they're like they took our seats. So, I have no where to sit and the leader starts head count and is then like Sit Down! and I look at her like where in the world am i gonna sit? in her lap? and she's like, "Oh, who has an empty seat beside them?" and it was the seat in the very front of the bus, but i get to sit by our leaders and they're as crazy as I am. So, we have great conversations.
Aside from all that, Tomorrow I represent the EPA in a Supreme Court Case and We go to Capitol Hill where I get to meet my states Representsatives in the US House and my Congressmen. I was also chosen as one of 13 candidates out of 300 students to run as Speaker of the House, the highest honor at NYLC, in the mock Congress being held Saturday afternoon. It has so far invlolved an interview process with all 13 candidates and tomorrow we will be given a card telling whether or not we advance to the 2nd candidate round. This round has only 5 candidates remaining. Yay, pray for me.
